Sunday to Monday | Saved

For God so loved the world; The sparrows, the mountain lions, the fish and the people.

For God so loved the world; In success and failure, in sickness and health, in mediocrity and extraordinary.

For God so loved the world; Enough to become one of us, enough to suffer along with us, enough to offer new life for us.

For God so loved the world; Let us worship God! Amen.

Sunday, the text for the day was John 3:14-22 and Ephesians 2:4-10.   We all know John 3:16 and it's a good verse to know, but when we hear some of the surrounding verses and St. Paul's writing in Ephesians, it helps us understand it in a richer and fuller way.  Paul writes in Ephesians, "For by grace we have been saved..."

A few questions to inspire you this week:

· What do you think when you see John 3:16 at a public event? Would you (have you) hold a sign up or wear John 3:16? Why or why not?
· Can you think of a time when you received a gift you didn’t deserve? How did you feel? How about a time you gave a gift that wasn’t deserved?
· Is the message of Jesus, the Savior simple or complicated? How would you describe God’s love to someone who doesn’t know it?
· How has God created you to join in blessing the world? Pray that you might follow the light of Christ in doing that which you were created to do.

God's grace is free!  We watched this "Free Hugs" video and it inspired us to follow Jesus out into the world on Maundy Thursday (the Thurs before Easter when we commemorate Jesus washing the disciples' feet and the Last Supper) with some Free Hugs of our own.  Watch for details!
