Sunday to Monday / Promised Land

“To preach is to give religious advice in a tiresome manner.”
~ Webster Dictionary

Pastor Dave certainly didn't give religious advice in a tiresome manner. He shared the Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount and how Jesus turns the world upside down with these words. We're blessed when we mourn and are poor in spirit because we turn to God. We sang and Bev Jensen and all the saints rejoiced.

Mr. Blake Unger, RCHS band teacher and one of his student leaders, Sofia, surprised us with thanks for our support and financial gift by presenting us with beautiful banners and a framed certificate.

Lots of cool stuff went on last week. Check out photos from the Mentoring Quarterly Supper here.  Images from the ECM fundraiser "Art is in the Air" here, from the bowling outing with Rev's kids here and Sunday worship here.

Reflections and discussion starters for your week.

  • What is good preaching in your mind? When has a sermon really been helpful? See Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:1-12
  • What are the ‘forms’ which connect you to Jesus? Art, Music, Nature, Books or ?
  • Ponder how you might pray for God’s Kingdom to break into the world as described in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:1-7:29.
  • Looking ahead to next week: What blessing of God will you be thankful for this Thanksgiving?
