In an invocation prayer at the United States Senate, Peter Marshall said, “Lord Jesus, Thou who are the way, the truth, and the life, hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make men free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Make us to see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.”
On Sunday, the topic of Pastor Dave’s sermon was “Politics.” Text was from Matthew 22:15-22 and Genesis 1:26.
Some things to think about…
• Have you ever plotted to entrap another? Have others planned to entrap you? (Matthew 22:15) What does this say about the human condition?
• We live in the United States. Each of us is responsible to do as the government says. On the other hand God is our maker and all nations are in Jesus’ Kingdom. Is it complicated or simple for you to be always allegiant to both government and God? (Matthew 22:17)
• Have you ever been caught in a position where government and God were in opposition to each other?
• Pray for government leaders and officials.
