Sunday to Monday / Pentecost Winds

Sunday was the Christian festival of Pentecost, the 3rd most important festival in the Christian church after Christmas and Easter.  It's the 50th day after Easter that celebrates how the Holy Spirit changed the lives of the group of Jesus followers and birthed the church.

The Holy Spirit came with wind and fire and commotion.  God promises to pour on the Holy Spirit on all who call to be saved. But be careful!  The Holy Spirit doesn't come to keep us safe or comfortable but comes to give us passion and to set our hearts on fire to join Jesus in changing the world.

Consider what gifts the Holy Spirit might impart to your life.

  • William H. Willimon said, “The Holy Spirit is the engine that drives the church out into the world.” How have you seen the church out in the world? How have you been the church out in the world?
  • Do you give witness to Jesus Christ with the full fervor and strength of one who has received the Holy Spirit? Why or why not? Pray that the Holy Spirit might fill you with fervor and strength.
  • What gift of the Spirit do you need most in your life right now? From Isaiah 11:1-3 Wisdom, Understanding, Right Judgment, Courage, Knowledge, Reverence, Wonder
