“You always have the poor with you.” Jesus, John 12:8
We gathered yesterday learning from horror films, Jesus' words and acts and one another. How do engage in power struggles or disrupting power? Christ the King was a new kind of king. If you missed being with us you can watch here. After worship we had the first of what we hope to be monthly classes or times to gather for discussion and learning. Hope you can join us in December. Pray with us here. Check out photos:
Check out Christmas ministry opportunities here.
We take the message into our week because we are not Sunday and done people, but Jesus followers where the sacred and the secular blend together.
- What power structures do you feel need to be torn apart?
- Do you agree, “If you attempt to dismantle power, to redistribute it, prepare to die?” as William Matthews says. Discuss it with someone of another gender or race.
- When you read John 12:1-8 what words or character do you identify with? What action does the text prompt you to take?
- Looking ahead to next week: Where do you find joy?
