Sunday to Monday / Our Father

Yesterday, Feb 15, we began our series on the Lord's Prayer.  It's a community prayer - "Our" Father to our God who paternally and maternally fathers us like no earthly parent can: with unconditional love, forgiveness and mercy.

Reflection and discussion-starters:

  • Is your experience of an earthly father more like Ward Cleaver of “Leave it to Beaver”, or the absent father in Cinderella?
  • How has your image of an earthly father impacted your capacity to pray to the image of a Heavenly Father? (Luke 11:1-14, Matthew 6:7-14)
  • Pray and reflect upon the word “our”, what does it mean that God is “our” Father vs “my” Father? How might you/we grow into what it means to all be parented by the same Heavenly Father?
  • Ponder the portions of the Lord’s prayer. Reflect upon each petition, and see yourself held by God within the verse. Allow God to become your one true comfort and strength. (Matthew 6:7-14,luke 11:1-4)
