Sunday to Monday / Messengers of God

“The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.”

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Happy Labor Day weekend! We take to heart Paul's words in Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people."

The series on Biblical mentors continued with Elijah and Elisha. A pair that teaches how mentoring relationships lead us into obedience, service, humility, patience and sacrifice - when we're willing to answer God's call. God answered Elijah's despair and loneliness with a mentee, Elisha. Elisha left a comfortable family life to serve. God has wonderful plans for our lives and most of the time, those plans are completed through relationships. Elijah and Elisha were messengers of God. We can be too.

For your week's devotions, reflections and conversations.

  • Who and where did you learn about work? What are you teaching others about work? What does Labor Day mean to you?
  • Who are you mentoring? Who is mentoring you?
  • How are you passing on hope to the next generation?
  • How can we be messengers of God in this world?
  • Looking ahead to next week: How has Mary the mother of our Lord impacted your faith journey? What is God conceiving in you? One virgin birth is not enough.
