Sunday to Monday / Merry Christmas!

“Places that are physically safe can be spiritually dead.”

~ S. Claiborne and J. Wilson-Hartgrove

Merry Christmas! We had a wonderful Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. As Pastor Dave reminded us that even though we live in unstable times and circumstances, the Christ child comes humbly and with love.  It can feel like we're Atlas - holding the world and it's troubles on our backs, but when we remember that Jesus came to save and hold the whole world, we can bow down and let our burdens go. We bow down in reverence and remember that Jesus is the key to abundant and eternal life.

We'll be looking for you to begin the new year with worship on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. only.

A few thoughts to take into this Christmas week.

  • What realities in your life would you like the Christ Child to come and address? See Luke 2:1-5
  • Are you willing to bow down to the God who first bowed down to you? See Luke 2:6,7.
  • Who are the people and places you feel safer avoiding? Do you think Claiborne and Wilson –Hartgrove are speaking God’s word to us when they say, “Places that are physically safe can be spiritually dead”? See Luke 2:8-14.
  • Pray that the God who holds the ‘whole world in his hands’ might relieve you in the paces you feel like Atlas.
  • What new thing might God give birth to in 2017? Have you prayed for it to happen?
