Sunday to Monday / Listening to the Voice of our Shepherd

It was a church "snow day" yesterday. The weekend storm forced the school district to close their facilities and gave many of us the opportunity for a day of Sabbath.

“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.”
John 10:27

We hope you had the opportunity to spend some time with John 10, particularly verses 22-30 and with Psalm 23. There are many voices competing to tell us who we are and how we should live. But Jesus' voice calls us into our true identity as children of God, created in the God-likeness and being light to the world.

This week we mourn the loss of Jennie Taylor, who at 97 years went to her eternal rest last week. A service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetary on Thursday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. Go here for details.

Take these reflections, conversation starters and links into your week.

  • Are you good at waiting? Who are you willing to wait for? Refer to James 5:7.
  • Sheep are willing to listen and to be led. Why would Jesus consider these to be important qualities? Refer to John 10:22-30.
  • The word sheep is both singular and plural. Are you better at being a singular or plural (communal) follower of Jesus?
  • Is Jesus’ voice reaching out to you, calling you to visit Israel?
