Sunday to Monday / Instead

"Instead" Isaiah 61:3

The first Sunday of Advent we prayed Come, Lord Jesus. Advent, the season before Christmas reminds us to be awake, alert, aware, alive and attentive to Jesus' presence now and to his coming.

Pastor DJ reminded us of God's "insteads" as listed in Isaiah 61:3. God offers us joy, faith, and hope in the place of sadness, mourning and faith hearts. We pray and we surround one another with community and Jesus' mercy.

If you weren't able to be with us, you can watch here. Get prayers of the day here

Check out photos from ministry last week.

Take the message of Isaiah 61:3 and the first Sunday of Advent into your week.

  • When has your life not gone as well as you planned?
  • When have you experienced new life by allowing God to give you something else “instead”. See Isaiah 61:3 for further reflection.
  • What do you hope for instead of what is? What might our GGCC Nicaragua ministry team be seeing the people of Nicaragua pray for instead of what is?
  • Looking forward to next week: What is the task of a prophet? See Isaiah 11:1-10 as a resource.
