Sunday to Monday | In Our Hearing

"We may be surprised at the people we find in heaven. God has a soft spot for sinners. His standards are quite low."  -Desmond Tutu

We gathered for worship yesterday as usual. We sang, prayed, listened and praised God. We continued with the story of Jesus' sermon in his hometown of Nazareth. We heard how the hometown crowd wasn't pleased with his message that God came for everyone. That the Good News doesn't get us an exclusive relationship with God, but an expansive relationship that includes everyone. We heard with God, justice isn't punishment, it's restoration. If you missed being with us you can watch it here. You can pray with us here. Check out photos here

For your week's reflections, devotions and conversations.

  • Does being preached to or at have good connotations for you? Why or why not? Do you preach?
  • When have you been part of the inside group? When have you been part of the group who was “out”? How do you welcome or serve people who are “out”?
  • How are you uncomfortable with Jesus’ teaching? Why? How might you pray to lean in to the teachings of Jesus that seem difficult?
  • Looking ahead to next week: How does Jesus make a difference in what you do?
