Sunday to Monday | Hypocrites

“You can blame people who knock things over in the dark or you can begin to light candles. You’re only at fault if you know about the problem and choose to do nothing.” -- Paul Hawken, The Sun, April, 2002.

On Sunday Pastor Dave's sermon was entitled "Hypocrites" and the text was from Matthew 23:1-12.

Some questions to ponder this week…

  • Does anger have a place and time? Why does Jesus get angry? (Matthew 23:3-7)
  • What is your reflection on Dr. Carl Jung’s quote? “One of the main functions of formalized religion is to protect people against a direct experience of God.”
  • Are the “phylacteries” a metaphor for anything in your spiritual life? Do you have times when you are more concerned with how you look, then being faithful to what you believe? (Matthew 23:5)
  • How might Jesus offer your spiritual journey a greater dose of humility and authentic servanthood? (Matthew 12:11,12)
