Sunday to Monday | Heramos

“…the secret of Jesus’ ministry is hidden in that lonely place where he went to pray.”

~ Henri Nouwen

Pastor DJ taught us some more Greek this week. Heramos - lonely place. Jesus would get away from the crowds, to pray and to connect with the Father. This wasn't a "spa time" but a time for him to be strengthened, perhaps challenged and to grow in wisdom for his ministry. Jesus said "No" to the suggestion he stay and bask in his glory.  And that's what getting away, saying No and spending time with God can do for us.

If you weren't able to be with us, you can watch the stream video anytime here. Prayers of the day here.  Photos from Whiz Kids at Confluence Ministries here; and from worship yesterday here

Take the message into your week's devotional time and conversations.

  • Jesus liked to go off by himself and get away to a ‘lonely place’. (Mark 1:35) What would you like to get away from?
  • Do you go to ‘lonely places’? Is it a place of peace or a location of challenge? Do we need both?
  • When was the last time you said no, you were not going to do what others needed done? (Mark 1:29-39)
  • Looking ahead to next week: When was your last mountain top experience with God? What happened? Where was it? (Mark 9:2-9)

After I initially commented I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are
added- checkbox and now whenever a comment is added I recieve 4 emails with the exact same
comment. Is there an easy method you are able to remove me
from that service? Thanks!
