Sunday to Monday | God With Us

"Every happening, great and small, is a parable whereby God speaks to us, and the art of life is to get the message." Malcolm Muggeridge

On Sunday, Vikki lead our New Year's Day worship with a thought provoking message. She encouraged us not to pack God away in a box, as we put away our Christmas decor, but instead to open and accept the gift that God is with us each and every day of the year. She spoke about landmark they should confirm our lives, rather than define them. We had time for personal reflection, looking back on 2011 and then looking forward to 2012.

We were also blessed to have Warren Baker with us, sharing his musical talents. He sang a powerful song that he wrote after 9/11, entitled "Where Do We Go From Here?" Words from the song's chorus..."Open up our eyes to the calling of our lives. Open up our eyes. Don't let us run and hide from the need..."

Some questions to help you reflect on today's message:

  • How would you describe the journey of the past year? What was most satisfying about the year? What was least satisfying?
  • What gifts do you bring with you into this new year? How will God's Word be a gift? Read Psalm 8.
  • What is your greatest need for the coming year? Your greatest hope?
  • How do you hope to join God in blessing the world this year?

2012 Daily Text devotional books with Bible verses and prayers are available for $5.  Pick yours up in the lobby on Sunday mornings while copies are available.
