Sunday to Monday | Giving Freely

Pastor Dave talked about how we often don't want to made well because it would require we change.  One thing we don't want to made well from is what Tony Campolo calls "Affluenza".   Acknowledging that all we have is a gift from God is hard and being made well might require us to be generous and give more.  Do we want to be cured of our greed and be "made well"?

This quote from Campolo sums up what we Jesus followers are to be about:
“I think that Christianity has two emphases. One is a social emphasis to impart the values of the kingdom of God in society –to relieve the suffering of the poor, to stand up for the oppressed, to be sure there is a voice for those who have no voice. The other emphasis is to bring people into a transforming relationship with Christ, where they feel the joy and love of God in their lives.”

Some questions to think about this week...

·Where is Jesus asking “Do you want to be made well?”Why would you be reluctant to say yes?(John 5:6)

·Pray for the places you see affluenza in the world and in you.

·Are there ways Jesus is calling you to move through “bystander syndrome” and connect with others at a higher level?
