Sunday to Monday / For By Grace

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-- not the result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Yesterday was another celebration with Rev Leon Kelly of "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 At the first service Rev talked about how our feet are made for proclaiming the Good News of Jesus: Isaiah 52:7, Romans 10:15 and we are to go and share this with all we meet. In the second service Rev shared 2 Chronicles 7:14;  when we turn to God, humble ourselves, pray and repent, God blesses us and we can share the Good News of Jesus.

Four students, their family and friends participated in the Rite of Passage: Confirmation of Faith where they confirmed and confessed their faith.  They shared personal faith statements: brief "elevator speeches" prepared so they can share the Good News in their daily lives.  As their parents and the congregation has mentored them in the faith, these statements in turn mentored us.

Take Sunday's reflections and contemplations into your week.

  • What’s the vision statement for GGCC? How do you live into it? How does our community live into it? (Jesus’ Mercy Changes Me, We and the World)
  • What is the value to you, GGCC, Denver, Colorado, and the world, that our missional community partners with Rev Kelly and Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives?
  • Are you willing to serve in places and with people who make you uncomfortable? Why or why not? How might Jesus be leading you into the world to meet him in unexpected places?
  • Looking ahead to next week: How do you think Jesus would vote?
