Sunday to Monday / Finding Daylight at Midnight

“I draw prayer round me like a dark protective wall, withdraw inside it as one might into a convent cell and then step outside again, calmer and stronger and more collected again.”

-- Etty Hillesum

Yesterday it was our honor and pleasure to welcome Dr. Rev. Larron Jackson to be among us and share the Good News. His scripture text was from Acts 16 and the story of Paul and Silas, beaten and wrongfully imprisoned. Their response was to pray and sing songs of praise. Larron reminded us that we have the promise that Jesus will never leave us alone - never. No matter what we're going through, God uses it for good and we can pray and praise in the midst of suffering and in the midst of joy. Jesus is always with us. That's Good News! Mentoring Ministry Gathering & Supper

Questions for thoughtful reflection and discussion; links and resources for your week:

  • How do you respond to unfair and unexpected circumstances? Is your response to being beaten and unfairly accused to pray and sing praise to God? (See Acts 16:25)
  • Where do you find light in the darkness?
  • Pray for Pastor Dave and the group traveling in Israel this week. May this visit to the Holy Lands transform their faith.
  • Looking forward to next week: What are you grateful for?
