Sunday to Monday / Extravagant Generosity

"Where there is no extravagance there is no love, and where there is no love there is no understanding."

~ Oscar Wilde

"Every act of extravagant love is a declaration of faith."

~ Bob Goff

Sunday morning we explored what it means to love like Jesus - the way Mary did in anointing Jesus with an expensive perfumed oil. What does it mean for us to love and give lavishly as response to God's extravagant love?

We heard this sacred teaching story. Dave Lee kicked off our annual stewardship campaign, The Promise of a Journey. His son, Hunter, sent video thanks from CU-Boulder for the congregational support via college care packages and notes.

In the afternoon we gathered at the Heflebower home to hear Dr. Rev. Larron Jackson tell his story of God's active presence, protection and guidance throughout his life. It's a powerful story. He's written a book of it, if you'd like to get a copy let us know and we can be in touch with him and get one for you. Click here to see photos from the event.

Take the message of John 12:1-8 into the week.

  • In In what circumstances do you feel generous? How can you bring forth more of your most generous sel
  • What might it mean for you to 'pour it all out' on the feet of Jesus? How would that be a gesture of trust, of faith, of love?
  • How do you prepare for Jesus’ death? (Consider attending Good Friday worship, March 25, 7 pm at Confluence Ministries, 1400 Quitman St, Denver)
  • Looking ahead to next week: What does Holy Week mean to you?

  • Music video: Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion
  • For parents & grandparents: What do eggs and bunnies have to do with Jesus? Get this new book “What is Easter?” to help kids understand the true meaning.
  • Watch and reflect on this music video on Mary anointing Jesus
