Sunday to Monday / Esther: Sister and Leader

“Who knows?  Perhaps you have come to royal dignity for such a time as this.”   Esther 4:14b

On Sunday the story of Esther and her courage was creatively played out by GGCC players.  It really brought the story to life!

Here's some things to think about this week:

  • Pray over the verse, “…Perhaps you have come to royal dignity for such a time as this.”  (Esther 4:14b)  What is God saying to you?
  • Have you ever taken courage in Christ and shared a controversial message?  If so, how did that go?  How did it affect your relationship with others?  With God?
  • Read the short book of Esther.  Where do you see or experience, Mordecai, Haman, Esther or King Ahasuerus?
  • Though God is not mentioned in Esther, why did it still become a book of the Bible?

For Families: Check out these links and activities

  • The story of Esther is a great one to share as a family, full of bad guys and twists and turns.  This link has many activities and links to the Esther story.
  • Esther was courageous.  Get the VeggieTale video "Esther the Girl Who Became Queen, A Lesson in Courage" from the library and watch it together.
  • Esther was kind and respectful.  How might we take turns being kind and respectful in our homes and neighborhoods?  Designate one person to be the "queen" or "king" for the day.  Make a crown to be shared and worn by all.  The "queen" or "king" for the day practices being kind and respectful to everyone else; they show courage and make sure that God is praised and thanked.
