Sunday to Monday / Don't Be Afraid

“And the government shall be on His shoulders, and He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

We were thrilled to welcome Rev. Leon Kelly as our special guest yesterday in worship. "Rev" reminded us that we can look to the nativity story to be reminded that even in fearful, unknown situations we can trust God and hear the angel Gabriel's words: "Do not be afraid". (Matthew 1:20 and Luke 1:30)

It was a celebration of the 4th Sunday in Advent, getting ready to welcome the Christ child on Christmas Eve. Rev was presented with the portion of the September 18th offering that we gave to Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives and thanked us for supporting his annual Christmas party by hosting and helping to provide toys for the kids when the usual source dried up.

Reflections for this week leading up to Christmas:

  • What do you fear about the holidays?
  • How do you deal with stress during the holiday?
  • Where is Jesus in your holidays?
  • Looking forward to Christmas Eve: How do you prepare your heart for Christmas Eve?
