Sunday to Monday | Do You Love Me?

This week's message was from John 21:1-24.  Pastor Dave spoke of the perfect number of seven as Jesus chose seven disciples. Jesus asked Peter three times "Do You Love Me?"  Peter had denied Jesus three times.  Jesus recentered Peter by asking him three times to reinforce the positive of do you love me vs. the negative of denying him.

Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection for the third time on the beach and ordered them to cast their nets which brought in 153 fish. One scholar estimates that there were 153 species of fish which represents all of the fish which represents all of the people.  The fragile nets were not torn by all these fish which was interpreted to mean that God's nets would be strong enough to hold all the people of the world.

Here's some thoughts for this week:

  • If someone were to ask you “Who are you?” how would you answer? How does Jesus answer that question?
  • Where do you most clearly hear Jesus’ calling out? How often do you go there?
  • How would you, your family, friends, this missional community, the world, be transformed if Jesus’ voice was heard with regularity in definition from scripture, actions, worship, prayers, magic and in all things! .
