Sunday to Monday / Come and See

“I have a dream today…”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

What a great morning of worship considering what Jesus calls us to "Come and See" this MLK weekend. In John 1:29-42 we hear Jesus saying come and see what he's up to.  Jesus wants us to come and see beyond racism, beyond prejudice, beyond injustice to a vision of the Kingdom of Heaven that includes everyone.  Everyone.

We were honored to welcome a panel to share where they've had the opportunity to "come and see" where Jesus has broken into racism in their lives and what impact MLK has had on them.  Powerful! Thanks to our panelists: Rodney Jackson, Jude Del Hierro, Carlos Calendrelli, Diana Dietvorst, Vikki Luce, Jan Erickson-Pearson and Natalie Lucero.

Take these issues into your week for reflection and conversations.

  • Who invited you to “come and see” Jesus so that you might grow in your racial understanding? (John 1:29-42)
  • When have you invited another to come and see Jesus so that they might grow in their racial understanding?
  • How do you hope the world heeds the invitation to “come and see” Jesus so that you might grow in your racial understanding?
  • Is it possible to follow Jesus into the way of peace? (Matthew 4:12-23)
