Sunday to Monday / Cloud of Witnesses

“We are not the first to struggle to follow Jesus . Fortunately, saints (saint being a forgiven sinner as defined by Martin Luther, 16th century church reformer) have shown the way. The church is the beneficiary of the wisdom of the ages, made available to us in the examples, the prayers, and the gifts of the saints.” ~ Dr William Willimon

We celebrated All Saints Sunday yesterday and remembered our cloud of witnesses who have passed on. It was bittersweet and joyful. We heard from six participants who shared a story about one of the saints they lost in the past year. We laughed and we cried.

There were 3 different speakers at each service so go here to watch the service you didn't attend. Click here to see photos.

Discussion and reflection starters for your week:

  • Who is a “Saint(s)” that has died who shaped your faith?
  • When you read Matthew 5:1-13 which verse stands out to you? Why?
  • Do you consider yourself a Saint? You are a forgiven sinner, thus a Saint by the 16thcentury church reformer Martin Luther’s standard.
  • Looking forward to next week: Rev Larron Jackson will be our guest speaker!
