Sunday to Monday / Claimed, Named and Aimed

“Come on in, the water’s fine!”
O Brother Where Art Thou?

Sunday, Jan 10th we celebrated and remembered Jesus' baptism and our own. In baptism, Pastor Dave reminded us, we are claimed, named and aimed. May we be willing to get into God's water of forgiveness and redemption daily so we can go out knowing that Jesus' mercy changes me, we and the world.

We celebrated Theresa Cope on her birthday and thanked her for her service as unpaid bookkeeper.

See photos from yesterday's worship here and from Saturday when a group went to see Terry Hershey speak here.

For your reflection and conversations this week:

  • What are your current feelings and thoughts about baptism? How might Jesus be calling you to grow in your understanding of baptism? (see Luke 3:15-22 for reflection)
  • When you pray are you expecting as a "beloved child", to hear the “voice of the Father who is well pleased?"
  • If baptism “NAMES US, CLAIMS US, AND AIMS US” which portion do you do well, and where might God be at work to build a stronger foundation of faith within you?
  • Martin Luther King Jr loved to quote Mark 9:35. Read that verse this week. How would your world change if you embraced service to others at a higher level?
