Sunday to Monday / But God

But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved... through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life. Ephesians 2:4-5, 8-10.

We were pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Larron Jackson as our guest preacher. He reminded us that we "are" what he has made us, not that we will be. We can be selfish and act in ways that are not through Christ, BUT GOD, is merciful and loving. We can take a "sovereign selfie" and see the image of God in us. That's Good News!

Summer events have kicked off at GGCC! Check out the calendar of upcoming dates and see photos from this past week.

Wed, May 31 - Mentoring Ministry Celebration

Thurs, June 1 - Open Door Party in the Park

Sun, June 4 - Worship

Sunday isn't the only day that's sacred - all the days of our week are. Here are some reflection and discussion starters.

  • When do you think you need to earn God’s love and mercy? Read Ephesians 2:1-10.
  • How’s your prayer life? What might you do to spend more time talking and more time listening to God?
  • Reflect on the hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” here sung by Aretha Franklin
  • Looking ahead to next week: Why do you think Jesus taught in parables?
