Sunday to Monday | After the Flood

“See the bird with a leaf in her mouth. After the flood all the colors come out.” U2

It was a rich day in worship as Pastor DJ led us through the struggle, the rocky road, the flood to get to the happy ending. When we consider the story of Noah, we like to focus on the end, the rainbow covenant. But we miss the part that comes before, the hard part of the story and if we skip that part, the wholeness of God's mercy and love is skipped too. If you weren't able to be with us, watch here. The sermon song was this video from U2.

We'll be looking for you at these upcoming events:

  • Midweek Lent Supper & Worship, Wednesdays March 13 - April 10, 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Great Beginnings Cafe
  • 2nd Sunday in Lent Worship, March 17, 9:00 & 10:30 am
  • Third Thursday at Open Door, Thurs, March 21, 3:30-5:15 pm

For your week's reflection, study and conversation:

  • When you read the story of the great flood, what images come to mind? Genesis 6:5-8:22.
  • What was your life’s most devastating flood? How did God show up that you might persevere on the other side?
  • Ponder a prayer you might say every time you see a rainbow.
  • Looking ahead to next week: Has God ever told you to uproot and move to a new place? What if God did?
