Sunday to Monday | Advent Begins

“The trust is found in the vulnerable city of Bethlehem.”

Walter Brueggemann

Happy New Year! Advent begins, the first season of the new church year. Advent is the four Sundays before Christmas. It's a time to engage waiting and preparing for the Christ child who came that first Christmas, comes now to us and will come in his glory. We light a candle each week. This first Sunday of Advent is the Prophecy or Hope candle. Like God's people of old who waited and hoped for the Messiah, we wait and hope for salvation. If you missed being with us, you can watch it here. Pray with us here.

Check out photos from last week's MUD supper and yesterday's worship.

Don't miss these events and opportunities!

Take Advent and Sunday's message into your week's reflections, devotions and conversations.

  • Upon reading Psalm 25, what do you think it has to do with Advent or Christmas?
  • When do you think Christ will come again?
  • What will be / is Christ’s message upon his return?
  • Looking ahead ot next week: Over the course of this next week, read Isaiah 11:1-9 and Matthew 3:1-12. What is God calling us/you to do?
