Sunday to Monday / Abide

“We were safe there in the middle, but the view is from the edge.”
~David Wilcox

In John 15:1-8, we hear Jesus say: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant."  When we work from our rest, rather than work 'til we're exhausted we're living Jesus' way. Abide in Jesus, be still, spend time with him - then go out to do work, serve...that's when we'll be fruitful.

Are you rested and ready to go this Monday? Or, are you tired and wishing you didn't have to? Be still. Spend some time with Jesus. Rest. Then you'll be ready to take off.

See photos from Sunday morning.

Abide starters below.

  • Read John 15:1-8. What does it mean to “abide” or to “bear fruit”?
  • Are you better at abiding or bearing fruit? Which is your soul in greater need of: abiding or bearing fruit
  • Ponder the quote from David Wilcox, “We were safe there in the middle, but the view is from the edge.” As you ponder and pray upon this quote what is Jesus speaking into your life?
  • Next week: Reflect on the many women in your life who have “mothered” you, who abide in Jesus’ love as he talks about in John 15:9-17
