Sunday to Monday / A Spiritual King

“When we speak about wisdom, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about virtue, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about justice, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about peace, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about truth and life and redemption, we are speaking of Christ.” Ambrose of Milan

Yesterday we wrapped up the church year with Christ the King Sunday, a day to celebrate Jesus: Lord of All, King of Kings, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace. But what kind of a king is Jesus? He's our spiritual king, who's kingdom is eternal. As subjects, we listen to his voice of truth and act with justice and love. Read the Advent Parable, A King in Disguise, by Soren Kierkegaard that illustrates for us Jesus' kingly love for us. The season of Advent (4 weeks leading up to Christmas) begins next Sunday and is an opportunity for us to prepare of the coming of our King as one of us.
