Sunday to Monday | A New Song

He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD’s, and he has set the world in order. 1 Samuel 2:8

On Sunday, we were blessed by the presence of Brad Corrigan, our guest speaker. If you missed this opportunity, please do everything in your power to hear him speak somewhere, sometime. You will be glad you did. Among other things, Brad encouraged us to look to the “trash heaps” close to home and remember that those you see are like your “own flesh and blood.”  He reminded us that “some things are not meant to be.” Think of the atrocities you know that are just “not meant to be.” He challenged us to be the kind of Christians/people that others look at and think….”I want so desparetly to have what you have…”

· Some questions to think about….
· When the financially poor are lifted from the trash heap, who is blessed? (I Samuel 2:7-9)
· What are the variety of ways humanity can fall into the “pit” (trash heap) today both literally and metaphorically? (Psalm 40:1,2)
· Do you yearn for a “new song”…that puts greater “trust in the Lord?” (Psalm 40) Let it be our communal prayer.
· How could the “deeds of God’ be seen on a trash heap in Nicaragua? How are God’s deeds seen on your daily drive? (Psalm 40:5)
