Love, Love, Love - All You Need is Love - Love is All You Need

Yesterday, the 10:30 service sang a wonderful rendition of "All You Need is Love" led by the Confluence Band, as we celebrated the 8 young people who confirmed their faith. Pastor Dave shared that the "wedding verses," St. Paul's words about love in 1 Corinthians 13, are for more than just for married couples. It's a teaching of how we might live together in community. Instead of having to prove we are right, instead of putting others down to lift ourselves up, instead of focusing on differences and divisions, we can seek to forgive and come together in love.

If you haven't heard or read anything about Detroit Tiger Pitcher Armando Galarraga's almost perfect baseball game and Umpire Jim Joyce's blown call, then you need to. It's a story of repentance, forgiveness and grace that turns out to be a much better story than just a perfect game. It's a story of love and grace; something rarely heard of in our attention-seeking world today.

Some questions to think about as you start the week...

·How might you affirm your baptism today and everyday?

·What situation have you ever been in when “different came together, not in conquest or seeking destruction and it felt good?”

·Why is it significant that “love” is the main thing? (1 Corinthians 13:13)

·Pray that we might put our “childish ways” (1 Corinthians 13:11) behind us to enter harmony and love.
