Sunday to Monday | A Christian Perspective on Halloween

On Sunday, Pastor Dave reminded us to stay grounded in the one true God, while seeking to be ever reformed by the truth of the one true God.   Halloween can give us an opportunity to shine the light of Jesus in a dark world.

What is God for?  LOVE!  1Corinthians 8:1,3

Will my actions honor Jesus?  1 Corinthians 8:6

To be strong in the faith means we are strong enough to stoop to the limitations of others.  1 Corinthians 8:9, 13

Make a difference for Jesus!  John 1:1-4, John 8:12

And here are some questions to guide you through the rest of the week:

  • What theological issues does Halloween raise for you? Good? Evil? (John 8:12)
  • Could you use Halloween as a time to better honor Jesus? To remind someone of Jesus light that shines in the darkness (John 1:1-4)? Or to dress  in a costume that might case others to enter into a conversation with you about God’s presence in the world?
  • On the topic of the “Reformation”.  How might you pray for Jesus to offer re-formation to your life?
  • Philo said, ”Be kind, for everyone is fighting a battle.”  How might we each practice a higher level of kindness in the world this week?
