On Sunday, Pastor Dave continued with his 5 part sermon series
on Practicing Greatness, inspired by Reggie McNeal. The topic of week 2 was "Self Development." He spoke about Jesus' miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana in Galilee. He encouraged us to be that "new wine," pouring ourselves out, because as we all know...wine that sits in the bottle uncorked will turn to vinegar. Pastor Dave also reflected on the life of Martin Luther King Jr. who spoke the words..."At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love." Our own missionaries to Haiti (Lois & Mark Autterson, Claudia Larson and Amanda Jensen) shared their thoughts of the current crisis in that country. Pastor Dave reminded us what ONE life can do to impact much and many!
~I have a dream today....And it is a dream that merges and mends lives from here to Haiti.
Here are some questions to guide you through the week...
· Where have “you come in” to the story of Jesus’ reconciliation for the world?
· How are you called to serve Haiti: money, prayers, presence, or ?? What is your gift God desires to use?
· Up to now have you seen failure as a destination or a beginning? How might Jesus turn water to wine in your life, and bring a fresh miracle? (John 2:1-11).
· Pray that you might be a blessing to 2 people every day. (Genesis 12:1-3)
