Strength for Today !

How is your today?

With so many people in our country facing devastating times, day to day strength seems more than exhausting!

The recent Hurricane Harvey has left thousands of people displaced and facing loss of all possessions. The imminent storms now facing the US have brought fear to many more. Our Western states are battling raging fires with much destruction in their paths as well. We have US residents now in jeopardy of losing the ability to continue to live in the only country they have known. We all face anxiety and fear in our everyday lives. Whether it be grieving a loved one, difficult health issues, or any of the many stressors each day.

How many times have we heard, "it will be okay, you'll get through this, it could be worse..."?

Do we believe these simple sayings? Where is our strength? Where is our faith? I look at some of the things people go through and think to myself, I am afraid I could never go through that with the trust and courage I have seen them display. Then I remind myself that only God gives us that strength.

Pouring our hearts out to God in prayer helps us gain the perspective and remind us of His power. David's words, "Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always." ( 1 Chronicles 16:11). This advice was part of God's faithfulness to His people in their struggles. We must always turn our hearts toward Him in ALL things, great or small.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though the waters fall into the heart of the sea." (Psalm 46:1-2)

"I love you Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." (Psalm 18: 1-2)

Have a Blessed day, a gift from God!
