Stop and Smell the Roses

Several months ago, Terry & I adopted a 2 year old black lab.  She came with the name, Lucy (kinda funny: Lucy Luce!) and she is a great dog.  She is well behaved, doesn’t bark and is a good companion.  As pets often do, she has some great lessons to share.

Lucy stops to smell the flowers.  Really!  Here is a photo of her smelling my peonies this spring.

She frequently smells wildflowers on our walks.  She smells the petunias and geraniums on our deck.  Lucy often reminds us to “stop and smell the roses”.

In figuring out work-life balance, it’s pretty easy to caught up in the busyness of life.  Lucy is our gift to remind us to stop.  Tomorrow, Sunday, Sept 2 (how can it be September already?) Pastor Dave is teaching on work-life balance at 9 and 10:30.  Hope you can make it.

Blessings for your holiday weekend.  May you find a moment to be like Lucy, and stop to smell the roses and enjoy God's creation.
