Simply Receive

Dear Children of God,

Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18:17)

Jesus is not telling the people how to receive a child, rather Christ is focused on how to claim the gift of the kingdom of God. The contention of Jesus seems to be that a child and an adult receive gifts in diverse ways.

A young child receives gifts without much thought as to the motive of the giver. They simply receive. This is true of life as well. Little children are not burdened with layers of thoughts about why people do what they do or what the hidden agenda might be. They simply live, from a pure posture. There’s no, “so what’s the catch” mentality at work. When you get right down to it, small children are free of a jaded view.

Have the events of El Paso and Dayton jaded your view? Children of God read and reread Luke chapter 18. Pray for a simple understanding in the face of complicated matters that the love of God for all God’s children is all that will ever win.  From the time of creation, to now, and into the future LOVE WINS! Rage, hate, and revenge will fade and lose their way. LOVE WINS! Action taken in love to provide hospitality, offers of forgiveness, and walking along side on a path of healing provides the LOVE that WINS.

Isaiah 9:6,7 says,”… the government is upon Jesus' shoulders.” Come Lord Jesus with laws of love.

Isaiah 7:14... for you are Immanuel “God with us” not just at Christmas, but everyday 24/7/365.

Prayers: for Dayton OH, El Paso Texas and wherever there are those who mourn the results of violence. For Tessa Saathoff and Richard Smith who join together in holy matrimony, this weekend in Omaha. For everyone who is returning to school.  That we might all receive the kingdom of God anew with the faith of a child.

“When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me…” the song “Let It Be “ is of great comfort to this 60 year old child of God. We all need the maternal ways of our Creator who is with us 24/7/365. Ponder the place where She engages you and get there often. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P6X3IWLECY

Still in One Peace,
