Show Up

When does Jesus show up?

Often in the midst of our doubts and our fears. When I’m sure nothing is going to work out and all hope is lost – I turn around and it’s not the end. Sometimes it sure can feel like the end is here for a long while, but Jesus shows up and life goes on.

Jesus showed up to a room filled with anxious disciples. Their master had been crucified. All hope was lost. And then…it wasn’t. Jesus appeared and said “Peace be with you.

Isn’t it interesting he didn’t say – “Look! I’m alive!” or “Dudes, what are you worrying about?” or “You idiots – I told you I’d be back.” No, he simply says “Peace” and then says, you’ve got work to do. Go. I’m with you.

And that’s what Jesus does for us. He doesn’t scold us for a lack of faith. He doesn’t require we state our belief. He just sends us to share his peace.

It’s simple. But perhaps not easy.

Come, gather with us tomorrow at 9:00 or 10:30 am as together we calm our fears and give one another Jesus’ peace as he is among us in our doubts. At noon – we’ll have a nice little lunch and then enjoy the spring afternoon picking up the grounds of RCHS. We are blessed to be a blessing – in the midst of everything, we can be like Jesus and show up.

Grace be with you,
