Seeking Peace

Peace. We all long for it. We all need it. What are you doing to foster peace?

Every action is a choice, and has consequences. Allowing yourself to listen to, participate in, or condone mean-spirited acts only gets in the way of peacefulness. I’m writing this just after the Pittsburg, PA shooting at a synagogue, and my heart is heavy, AGAIN! Although we may feel somewhat helpless in aiding those in dire need of peacefulness, we CAN pray, support, and treat others in our daily lives, peacefully.

God taught us a great deal about peace. Below are some reminders. Are we listening? Are we doing what we can to nurture peace?

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

For, Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it. 1 Peter 3:10-11

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

May our hearts find peace and our actions be peaceful.

In God’s peace…Tammy Heflebower
