When times get hard, what do we want? We want to be saved from our suffering. But what does it mean to be saved from our suffering? Sometimes we’re not sure.

Way back in the story of Exodus, Moses was leading the people out of Egypt. God was saving them from their suffering! And yet, they still complained. And yet, God still saved them! (See Exodus 14:1-4; 10-17) God saves again, and again, and again.

We trust that God saves because God saved the Israelites from the Pharaoh and God sent Jesus and God is still saving. May we rejoice and be glad.

Let’s remember that God saves,

“Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime; therefore we must be saved by hope. Nothing true or beautiful makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore we must be saved by faith. Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; therefore, we are saved by love.” ~ Reinhold Niebuhr
