Today our family will be growing with the addition of a new puppy. We have the house all ready with everything needed to make our fur baby comfortable in his new home. Lots of things had to be changed – stuff picked up off the floors, baby gates up, etc.

We even changed his name. His foster family temporarily named him Puppy Le Pew. We changed it to Lucky. Very appropriate as he is a rescue. He’s lucky to be no longer on the kill line and we are lucky to have a furry companion again.

After renaming Lucky, Paul’s lifelong friend suggested the name Mulligan. As golfers, they are very familiar with the term “mulligan” where you get to have a second chance, another shot, with no penalty. It seemed so appropriate and Lucky is now Mulligan “Mully.”

Receiving a mulligan is a good thing. Life is full of mess-ups. And God doles them out over and over again. We are forgiven. And it’s forgotten.

But I think the name for it is BLESSED.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. ~ Psalm 138:7 (NIV)
