Real Friendship

Acceptance is the universal currency of real friendship. It does not warp or shape or wrench a person to be anything other than what they are. -- Joan Chittister

The old hymn goes, “What a friend we have in Jesus…” Do we consider Jesus a friend? Sometimes it’s hard to get past the Savior of the World, Prince of Peace, King of Kings, or Lord of All.

But Jesus said he was our friend in John 15:14-16:

You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. 16 You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.

If Jesus is our friend, then surely we can be a friend to others. We can offer acceptance and allow people to be who they are because Jesus does that for us.

We gather as friends in Christ, family in Christ, people of God tomorrow at 9:00 and 10:30 am. We’ll be looking for you.

Grace be with you,

Vikki
