Reaching Deep

Ephesians 1:4-14  Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan. God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God. And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

I’ve been thinking lately of my relationship with God. Mostly my thoughts dwell on whether or not I’ve been pleasing Him and allowing the Holy Spirit to work fully in my life as God would want.

I want to know God better and feel His presence more. I want and need my relationship with Him to grow deeper. I am currently reading a book by Philip Yancey entitled “Reaching for the Invisible God”. It is very engrossing at times and very profound reading.  I’ve been thinking can we really know God the way we know each other? How do we relate to God and how does He relate to us? We are finite, He is infinite. We are limited in knowledge and He has all knowledge.  We are bound by time and He sees all things and all times past, present and future.  I think because of this and much more, the only way we can relate to Him, to know Him, is through His Son Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

It does give me great comfort to know this and even more to know that before I sought after God, God had already found me and chose to be an adopted Son before he made the World. My faith in God was even His gift to me. I’m astonished at that knowledge.  I’m still trying and will continue to try to know God better.  Sometimes I think I know Him really well and other times it seems I don’t know Him at all. I suppose that is normal for us or at least for most of us. It is in those dry times that I have to go deeper into the well of God despite the effort and the toil.  When I do reach deep, I feel completely refreshed.

No matter how I feel about my relationship with God I know that when I seek God I always find Him when I search for Him with all my heart. After all created me and sought me with all His heart.

First of all I would like to say great blog!
I had a quick question that I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my
thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
