Rapture Surprise

The Rapture didn’t happen. I’m glad. I think.

God likes to surprise us. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” Matthew 24:36

This week, we are vacationing in Disney World with our grandsons, Hunter and Hayden, who are 11 and 7 years old respectively. They had no idea they were going to Orlando, Florida, let alone that they would enjoy Disney World during Star Wars weekend with their parents AND grandparents. It was a surprise. No one told them about the vacation plans in advance. No one told them that Papa and G-ma would be there too.

I like surprises. What’s the biggest surprise you ever had?

Although we do not know the day or the hour, we are assured that God loves us unconditionally. That’s His promise.

Remember Christmas morning and witnessing the delight on a child’s face as they tear into the package that holds exactly what they wanted?

That’s how our God is. He knows what we want and he loves to surprise us. Regardless of where you are at today, remember that God is the one in control. Wait for his surprises. He will provide for whatever we need or want, but it will be on His timeline, not ours.

Just as a child (or adult) who screams with glee because they receive the surprise they never expected or asked for, that’s what God is like as our heavenly Father. He loves to surprise us. Stay faithful. Wait patiently. Expect the unexpected and God will surprise you today. Trust Him that he will provide the unexpected.

Dear God,
Thank you for surprising me with your unmerited love. Every day. Amen.
