Psalm 105

Psalm 105:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known among the nations what he has done.”

Psalm 105 is a call on GOD’s people (Israel) to worship and trust in the Lord. At least this is what my study bible says. I was intrigued by the explanation and it made me think of three things.

1.) “A call on Israel (GOD’s people)”. If we truly believe in GOD then “GOD’s people” is every man, woman, and child on this earth. It’s more than me and you, it’s everyone… the people you like, the people you don’t like, the people who don’t like you, the people you don’t even know. We are all GOD’s people.
2.) “a call on GOD’s people to worship”. I found this interesting. The study bible says Psalm 105 is a call to worship, but Psalm 105 doesn’t talk about church it talks about life. Psalm 105 relates the story of people, GOD’s people, and in living out their life they are worshiping GOD.
3.) “a call to worship and trust in the Lord.” Psalm 105 ends with “he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for – that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.” GOD has given us everything, our life, our family, our friends, our relationships… this world, and he gave it to each of us… every man, woman, and child on this earth.

As you are living out your life today are you pleased with how you are worshiping GOD? As you are living out your life today are you trusting in GOD?

If there is something you want to change in your life, if there is guilt, or fear, or worry, or doubt, or hurt, or abuse… GOD loves you as you are. There is nothing you can do to make GOD love you any less. There is nothing you can do to make GOD separate from you, nothing, nada, zip. So as Psalm 105 says “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,” for GOD is present in all things and GOD is present in you! AMEN!

Precious Father, Loving God, Holy Spirit, help us to see your presence in everything we do, everything we say, everything we think. Help us to love! AMEN!
