Press Pause

Revelation 21:2 - "I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down from heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband."

Have you attended a wedding recently? Everything has been prepared following months, sometimes years, of preparation. Guests are seated and wait for the event to commence. The music begins and the attendants walk in and amble to the front, taking each step as coached and line up alongside the future husband. And then, there is a slight pause, the music changes. It becomes intense, directed, joyous, and anticipation fills the air.

The bride enters, and we stand to pay respect and tears trickle down our cheek as we witness the beauty of this loving relationship. This bride is beautiful. Her future husband eyes her with his breath held in because he loves this woman so much. She is the love of his life.

I'd like to freeze this moment in a marriage. Press pause. I want to stay in this gentle loving place for eternity. Feel the love?

One of my favorite verses is from Rev. 21:4, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

As we enter 2014, I wish I could press the stop/pause button. I wish I could be in the Holy City and witness this frozen moment in time for eternity.

But we must keep our video rolling. We don't have a pause button on our lives. Instead, we are called to bear witness and share the beauty of the bride to come.

Do you feel that moment? Share it with someone today!
