Preparing Your Heart

As we are about to enter the Lenten season, I reflect on whether or not I am prepared, or even prepared properly. Many friends and family members have been talking about what they are giving up for Lent. Many others are discussing Easter, as if Lent is just an interlude to get to another, perhaps better, season.

I was reading an online devotional recently and it said, “What if this year’s Lent season is different from any other you’ve experienced? … what if God is going to use this season, this year, to transform your life?” Are you ready?

In my job, I often help teams prepare for upcoming product releases, with new designs and new features; the teams I work with must consider the value it brings to our customers, then socialize the value with them. Preparation for clearly sharing the value, as well as sharing a level of excitement about the coming changes, is essential to the success of our business. Sometimes this involves a change in thinking, going beyond the comfort of what is known to embrace the lesser known.

What if God uses seasons to transform us, what if by giving things up, by preparing for Easter, there is transformation that occurs in each of us? I am praying that God uses all the seasons, throughout the calendar and liturgical year, to transform me – to bring about the change he wants to see in me.

Merriam-Webster defines transform: (a) to change in composition or structure, (b) to change the outward form or appearance of, (c) to change in character or condition.

Merriam-Webster defines prepare: (a) to make ready beforehand for some purpose, use, or activity; (b) to put in a proper state of mind.

As we prepare to enter the holy season of Lent, ask, “What does God want to give me this year? Am I ready to receive it, willingly? How will he use this time and this season to prepare me?”

Proverbs 24:2 Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested
to see if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now
broken and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but
I had to share it with someone!

An interesting discussion is definitely worth
comment. I do believe that you ought to write more on this subject, it might not be a taboo
subject but generally people do not talk about these topics.
To the next! All the best!!
