Praying for Light

A few weeks ago I came upon a car that made me start praying for light.

Psalm 18:28 You, LORD, keep my lamp burning;my God turns my darkness into light.

We’ve all passed those cars that bob and weave and we pray they don’t hurt anyone before they reach their destination. But that wasn’t it. I was at a stop light. And no I wasn’t in a hurry needing the light to change either. It was the license plate. It read: PURHATE.

The car was a black sports car with blackened windows and a couple of red demon decals on the trunk. Shivers went down my spine and I started to pray for my protection first. Then I asked God to heap on love and light on this person’s car and whoever was inside.

Psalm 27 Of David.  The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

Jesus came so we might have light. Light that would fill the void in our souls. Light that would illuminate the darkness and eradicate evil. Light that would fill us with love that knows no bounds. Light that would bring us a peace that passes all understanding.

Now that we have the Light of Christ we are called to share it. We are the light! Don’t hesitate, don’t worry, just share His light! Then the next time I am at a stop light that little black sports car may have a new vanity plate that reads: PURLOVE.

Psalm 36:9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

Abba Father, let me be an instrument of your love and light in this world. Help me to remember that We the church, the body of believers are the light, the city on a hill, we gotta let the light shine!
