Power of the Light

Dear Christmas People,

“And the word became flesh and lived among us…” (John 1:14)

Just being honest now. We say that we want God with us, close to us. We complain that God too seldom speaks to us or reveals God’s way to us. But honestly, is there something about us that would keep God at some distance from us? We say that we mean to honor the holiness of God, the exalted nature of God. Yet what we often really mean is, “God, stay out of my world, keep your distance from my life.”

The incarnation (God becoming human) is a threat to the aloofness that we would like to keep between ourselves and God. God has spoken through Jesus the Christ. Do we want to listen?

Prayers: For God’s Grace Community Church (GGCC) and all nonprofits who are relying on strong year end financial giving. For the sick and those who mourn. For the Open Door Christmas party for at risk youth this Saturday, and your participation in it! And for Louis Michael Booren (Jane & Mark Mang's grandson) as he prepares for baptism this Sunday.

John 1 speaks of the power of the light. Light is aggressive, it does not shy from the darkness.  May you escape the night pollution of the city soon and gaze into lights of night.

For the light of Christ makes the darkness of each night holy.
