Perfect Wardrobe

Colossians 3:12-14 (The Message) So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

Spring is coming. I am sure of it! Just yesterday there were 3 Robins lined up on my fence proudly puffing their red breasts. Soon I will have the urge to put away my winter clothes in favor of the lighter brighter colors of my spring wardrobe!

I wish putting on God’s holy wardrobe was as easy as the changing of seasons in my closet. Putting away anger and frustration and replacing them with compassion and kindness is hard. Shelving my pride and my weaknesses for humility and strength seems nearly impossible. I like to think that I am even tempered, and I’m really okay with second place…most of the time. Can I really hope to slip into the robe of forgiveness as quickly as I change my T-shirt? Really?

Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.

Lois has shared a beautiful video on Forgiveness with our Wednesday group. “Begin” the Reverend James says in a tone that draws me to listen with purpose, “Begin, by remembering the well of grace and forgiveness that you have dipped into since you were born.”

I have dipped into that well time and time again. I will dip into many more. God’s robe of forgiveness should be in threads by now. Surely I can put on the shiny new one he gave me and share it with others.

Christ put himself on the cross…for me; for my sin.

And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

The more stories of incredible forgiveness we saw on the video, the easier it was to see their common wardrobe;

they all were wearing the same garment…Love. Miracles happen when we wear Love. Abba Father, help me to

get ready for spring! Your resurrection is coming; your example is hard to match. I trust though that with your

help I can wear your perfect wardrobe of Love.
