Our Father

Let us Pray to OUR God,

In the Lord’s Prayer, we pray- “Our Father…” So much is contained in that little word “our.” We live in a society of individualists, where people get confused into thinking that religion is mostly “a private affair.” The Lord’s Prayer keeps trying to teach us that the first thing we say to God ought to be “our.” In this faith, no one is saved alone. We are saved communally, ecclesially (sacred community), through a church that has taught us to say “Our Father.” In this faith , those whom we once regarded as strangers are made into sisters and brothers by learning to address God as,”Our Father.”

“Our” is one big little word.

For further reflection read Luke 11:1-3 and Matthew 6:7-14.

I am excited to preach for the next two Sundays on the Lord’s Prayer. Then on the Wednesdays in Lent, we will use portions of the Lord’s Prayer for our texts and for the meditations. We hope to see each of you at the Great Beginnings restaurant https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=great+beginnings+parker on Feb 25 and March 4,11,18 and 25.

Let us come together before our God and Father.

Still in one peace,

Pastor David J. Jensen
